| PASTOR PETER ETUGBO |
“Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and good works; Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another and so much as the more, AS YE SEE THE DAY APPROACHING” (Hebrews 10:22-25).
The above exhortation of Apostle Paul to the Hebrews is the way out for everyone to escape the judgment day of the LORD unhurt.
Remember, the judgment day is a day of divine screening either to heaven or to hell fire. Are you one of those persons who ignorantly think that there is nothing like eternal judgment? If that’s your belief, repent today so that you can be saved from the wrath of the LORD. The other day, I hear someone say that even in hell there is some measure of comfort and that there’s no big deal being in hell. I pray that the power of the Holy Spirit touch such an one in order to quickly turn from such vain thinking and accept the Lord Jesus Christ into his life in order to miss the eternal fire in hell. There is no gainsaying that only what you find in hell is sorrow.
One fundamental truth about the day of the Lord is that the Day is approaching. That means the day is coming near. No one can stop that judgment day and nothing can avert it. It is real and fast approaching.
The focus of this write up therefore is for you to follow up the guide lines or road map in order to be on the right hand of the Lord in His judgment seat.
What are these spiritual steps you must take and up hold?
Firstly, draw near to God. The Bible says when you draw close to God, God will draw near to you, (James 4:8). As we see the Day approaching one good step you must take is to truly draw near to God daily with full assurance of faith in Christ.
Secondly, as you draw near to God, your heart must be clean. It must be free from every evil imaginations. The Bible says “Keep heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life” (Proverbs 4:23).
It is the heart of man that God is always interested on. It was the composition of the heart of David that made God to anoint him to be king of Israel. It is also due to the composition of the hearts of his elder brothers that made God to reject them from being king. So, the heart of man is a paramount concern to God. How clean is your heart? So, in drawing near to God you must do so heartily. Jesus showed his regrets when he found out that the Jews were drawing to him with their lips and not from their hearts. “This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoreth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me” (Matthew 15:8).
Thirdly, you must hold fast the profession of your Christian faith without wavering. You must be committed to your belief in God.
The Bible says “But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed” (James 1:6). Do not wobble in your Christian race. Be steadfast. Don’t be ashamed of being a child of God. Confess your faith everywhere you are, no matter who is around you. The Bible says if you are ashamed of Jesus, he also shall be ashamed of you. Talk about Jesus and what He stands for. He is the Saviour of the whole world and His is still saving people from their sins upon calling upon Him. One reason you must not waver is the fact that God is faithful.
God’s faithfulness is never in doubt. Whatever God promises in His word, He would fulfill without fail. “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness, but is long suffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9). Stand firm in your faith without doubting and it shall be well with you at the end of age.
Fourthly, for you to be free with God at the judgment day, you must show love to everyone because love is of God. The Bible says “For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another” (1 John 3:11). The word of God admonishes us to provoke one another unto love and good works. Our Lord Jesus Christ himself has commanded us to love.
“A new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are mine disciples, if ye have love to another” (John 13:34-35). One outstanding feature that could make people identify you as a child of God is the level of love you display toward one another. Because Jesus has shown love to us all, we should in return do so to everyone we come across. If you are not living in love you are not living in Christ, and if you are not living in Christ, you are living your live for hell fire! May God bless you.
